Job Description:

Recovery Cafe San Jose is looking for a Development & Communications Manager. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the organization's fundraising activities (85%) and leading communications efforts (15%) to expand Recovery Caf--'s community of support. The role will involve driving donor engagement, cultivating relationships, managing fundraising events, and overseeing social media and other outreach efforts. The manager will work closely with the Executive Director and Program Manager to develop a strategic and integrated approach to both development and communications.About Recovery Cafe San Jose:Recovery Caf-- San Jose provides a family-like community of support and services for individuals recovering from addiction, homelessness, mental health challenges, and other kinds of life trauma. We provide the love, resources, and tools to foster long-term recovery, personal transformation, and an energetic re-engagement with life.Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan to achieve revenue goals, focusing on individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants.
• Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with individual donors, major gift prospects, corporate sponsors, and foundation funders.
• Manage the research, writing, and submission of grant proposals, ensuring timely compliance with reporting requirements.
• Plan and execute fundraising events, both in-person and virtual, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and maximizing revenue opportunities.
• With the Executive Director, build a portfolio of key donors and prospects, developing personalized cultivation and stewardship strategies to foster long-term support.
• Oversee donor recognition programs, ensuring timely acknowledgments and regular engagement.
• Plan and execute donor cultivation events, working collaboratively with staff and board members.
• Research and identify new grant opportunities, manage the grant calendar, and coordinate proposal development with program and finance staff.
• Ensure compliance with funder guidelines and reporting requirements, submitting accurate and timely reports.
• Manage donor database and donor appreciation, tracking donor engagement and analyzing giving trends.
• Prepare fundraising reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors, providing insights into donor activity and overall fundraising progress.
• Work with ED to develop and implement a social media strategy to expand Recovery Caf--'s online presence and engage with supporters.
• Create compelling content (posts, blogs, videos, etc.) that highlights the organization's impact and drives engagement on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
• Monitor and analyze social media performance, adjusting strategy as needed to maximize engagement and reach.
• Work with the Executive Director to craft key messaging for external communications, including newsletters, press releases, and email campaigns.
• Assist in creating and distributing marketing materials to support fundraising campaigns and donor outreach.
• Collaborate with local media and community partners to increase visibility and awareness of Recovery Caf-- San Jose's mission and programs.
• Maintain and update the organization's website with current content, program updates, and events, ensuring consistent messaging and branding.
• Ensure website analytics are monitored and used to improve user engagement and experience.Desired Skills and Knowledge
• Bachelor's degree in communications, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5+ years of nonprofit development experience, with an emphasis on major gifts, corporate giving, and grants management.
• Demonstrated ability to execute a successful fundraising strategy, meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in grant writing and/or donor communications.
• Experience managing social media platforms and creating engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with donor management software and proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google tools.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities, work collaboratively with team members, and manage projects to completion.
