THE OPPORTUNITYLocated in the heart of San Francisco, the Asian
Art Museum is home to one of the world's finest collections of
Asian art, boasting more than 18,000 inspiring artworks ranging
from ancient jades and ceramics to contemporary video
installations. Dynamic special exhibitions, cultural celebrations,
and public programs for all ages provide rich art experiences that
unlock the past and spark questions about the future.Currently, we
are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team. This is an

of colleagues. Under the supervision of the Controller or designee,
the Staff Accountant assists with a variety of accounting related
duties in support of the Finance Department and museum. The Staff
Accountant responsibilities include general accounting, accounts
payable, accounts receivable, and accounts reconciliation; and
assists in the annual audit in accordance with standard
professional accounting procedures.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs a variety of accounting related duties such as general
accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and accounts
reconciliation, etc., using standard professional accounting
procedures.
- Assists with the annual audit preparation for external
auditors.
- Maintains, tracks, reconciles, and processes a variety of
accounting records such as general expenses, credit card expenses,
museum store sales, admission sales, rental events, earned and
contributed revenues, fixed assets, etc.
- Ensures compliance with museum guidelines and procedures, and
federal and state regulations.
- Prepares, enters, processes, and resolves accounts payable and
receivable transactions, and completes end of month close
procedures.
- Prepares and processes accounting disbursements, including
vendor and/or staff payments.
- Prepares city purchase orders (PO) and submits PO and voucher
payment in City and County of San Francisco (CCSF) system(s), and
other City-related transactions as required.
- Trains staff on Concur Invoice and Expense, or other similar
system. Serves as administrator for Concur, or other similar
system, to provide technical support.
- Assists in creating, preparing, and maintaining periodic
analytical reports for management review.
- Assists with the preparation of accounting schedules, reports,
and financial statements on a monthly and on-demand basis for
management.
- Establishes and nurtures strong working relationships with
museum staff, colleagues from other institutions, consultants, and
vendors.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and business
procedures.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication
skills with strong follow-up/tracking skills.
- Extreme accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills, including experience working with
accounting software and fluency in Microsoft Excel and other
third-party applications.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate exceptional
flexibility.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive
information.
- Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish and nurture strong working relationships
with museum staff, colleagues from other institutions, consultants,
and vendors.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or closely related field from
an accredited college or university.
- One (1) year of professional accounting management and general
ledger accounting experience.
- Experience in a not-for-profit organization.
- Please note: an equivalent combination of academic
qualifications, licenses, certifications, and work experience will

- Computer, tablet, and phone use.CompensationThe Asian Art
Museum is committed to practicing salary transparency. The hourly
range for this position is $31.1989/hr. - $37.4707/hr. This FLSA
non-exempt opportunity includes a generous benefits package,
including but not limited to:
